Cougars show fight in battle with state-ranked Roncalli

GREENFIELD — Facing one of the top teams in the state is a big task.
​
Facing that team with numerous starters out of the lineup added more of a challenge for Greenfield-Central’s boys wrestling team in Wednesday night’s dual meet with Roncalli, seeded No. 5 in this weekend’s Indiana High School Wrestling Coaches Association Class 3A Team State Finals.
​
The Royals beat the Cougars 57-19, but GC first-year coach Riley McClurg got what he asked of his wrestlers in the match held at Dellen Automotive Gymnasium.
SECTIONAL SUCCESS: GC, EH wrestlers punch tickets to regional

CHARLOTTESVILLE — The path to a state title began for girls wrestlers across Indiana on the second day of the new year.
​
At the Eastern Hancock Sectional, both the host Royals and Greenfield-Central were among teams competing for not only sectional championships, but for spots in next week’s regional tournament.
After strong showings on Friday, both schools will be represented at the next stage.
​
The Cougars qualified four to the regional and had a pair of champions, while the Royals advanced two wrestlers to the regional.
